Dagmar Zweytick is senior research scientist at the Institute of Biophysics and Nanosystems Research (IBN). She is interested in the design of host defense derived peptides as new antibiotic and antiseptic therapeutics against various pathogenic bacteria, as well as new anticancer agents. Her main focus is to elucidate the mechanisms of membrane perturbation of these peptides using biophysical approaches with membrane mimetic and in vitro systems. From 2008 -2012 she was leading the FWF project "Host defense peptides as novel agents against cancer". In 2012 she started the second FWF project ?Human peptide derivatives against cancer with poor prognosis?, which deals with peptides active on cancer with poor treatability like human glioblastoma and malignant melanoma.
